Day Ten

Woke up at 7:30am, had breakfast and was a much better one this time. I packed up the tent and set off up the lane to more field walking, finding the North Yorkshire Moors getting closer. I had only had 2 miles of road walking, so it was a good idea to camp at the White Swan. The field paths around here are well signed and very easy to follow, just flat terrain and more stiles to climb over.

There was plenty of fighter jets flying overhead, probably towards the North Sea. I reached the ever busy A19 carriage-way and quickly crossed over to a lane to lead me to Ingleby Arncliffe, then to Ingleby Cross. Here I popped into the Blue Bell Inn for a couple of beers.

Set off again towards Park House Centre Outdoor Centre and to Beacon Hill. Here the views are great, on a good you can see Penhill and Cross Fell, the highest point on the Pennine Way. I only have 3 miles to Swainby, my next overnight. I arrived at the Blacksmith Arms and asked the landlord about pitching a tent, no problem and only charged me £1.

I set up camp and later I had a couple more beers, due the weather being warm. I liked the bar meal menu and decided on a mixed grill, costing £6.50. This consisted of the following items: 1 Egg, 2 sausages, 1 Large Gammon, 2 Pork Chops, 1 Black Pudding, 1 Beefburger, Fried Onion Rings, Fried Tomatoes, Side Salad and Chips. I was struggling towards the end and quietly stuffed a sausage and burger into my plastic bag and had it later in bed.
